Lips… They’re so hot right now! They are also an incredibly important, central aspect to our facial balance and aesthetic. Anatomically, they are very complex with many areas of convexity, concavity, light and shadow. When reconstructing a lip, one has to be careful not to distort any of these subtle anatomic borders and yield a noticeable outcome. In this defect picture, you can see some of those areas drawn out, which gives a little insight into the thought process around reconstructing to blend seamlessly with the surroundings. This lovely, young mother was very thrilled with her outcome after skin cancer removal and reconstruction.
